Firewall Information for Inclarity VoIP
Voice over IP by its very nature requires your IP network to be in an optimal state to work correctly. Any network not set up by Inclarity may therefore require some modification to support the Inclarity VoIP service.
The following list provides your IT administrator with all the information necessary to optimize a network for Inclarity services. In the case of most small networks using network address translation (NAT) only inbound firewall rules will need to be adjusted or enabled.
Please check that your router provides NAT support for TFTP (which will likely need to be configured). Note that Cisco IOS versions earlier than 12.3(10) do not support this.
For VoIP Services
The below table details the required settings that need to be configured on your network to allow the Inclarity phone system to work correctly and applies to customers that use both physical phones on desks or the Bria Stretto softphones for the mobile or PC as well as additional features such as the Inclarity Integrator, GOTAPI and Receptionist and Call Centre clients.
These settings also allow secure access to our System Management Tool (SMT) and Phone Manager portals.
For Bria Stretto Users (PC and Mobile Devices)
The below table applies to Bria Stretto softphone users only and should be configured on your network in addition to the settings detailed in the ‘For VoIP Services’ section above.
*The IP ranges provided within this table are for the use of the Bria Stretto Push Servers within the UK, if you have users outside of the UK please contact Customer Services for a full list of available IP addresses for other regions.
For Support
If your router or firewall has any NAT session timers (sometime called NAT interval timers) then these values should be set on the device to a minimum of 180 seconds (3 minutes).
SIP ALG
If your router or firewall has a SIP Application Layer Gateway (ALG) component it must be disabled to avoid disrupting the Inclarity service.
SIP ALG is active in most commercial routers. By design, it inspects SIP packets and if necessary, modify them to assist VoIP traffic. In actuality, it can interfere with VoIP traffic, often causing call drops, one-way voice or registration-based issues. SIP ALG should be disabled in all circumstances.
Any router provided by Inclarity will have SIP ALG disabled. Any router not provided by Inclarity will need to be referred to the router maintainer to disable. Inclarity cannot provide assistance
on unsupported routers.
